Teleconference call provider Powwownow had experienced five successful years providing flexible, no-contract conference calls. They knew from their increased popularity that their ‘no booking, no billing, no fuss,' approach to conference calling was working. But they were keen to increase awareness of their brand with a piece of communication that would attract attention while highlighting their humourous, fun brand.
The idea was simple: Powwownow has been providing millions of conference calls worldwide, so the meeting room is getting put to very different uses.
So what were people getting up to in the meeting rooms?
Base One collated a series of humourous CCTV-style movies, with footage captured showing employees using the meeting room to play a bit of golf, table tennis or homemade snooker, catch up on 40 winks or for a little fun under the table.
The videos were uploaded to a Powwownow channel on video-sharing sites such as YouTube and the Base One Search Team implemented a full search strategy to increase the video’s visibility on the web. Facebook and Metacafe versions were subsequently promoted via email, Twitter accounts with more than 1,500 followers and via social bookmarking/sharing sites such as Digg, Reddit and Stumbleupon.
